Opening an OBD app and just clicking connect probably won’t work.

Before doing anything, before even downloading an app the first thing to do is pair the Bluetooth OBD dongle with the Android phone.

Go to the settings menu of the phone. Click Bluetooth, switch Bluetooth on, when the Bluetooth OBD dongle shows up, pair it. Usually passwords are 1234 unless its stated otherwise.

When the phone is paired with the OBD Bluetooth dongle then we can open our OBD app and from the settings in the app we can click connect.

Sounds simple but not pairing the Bluetooth device with the phone first, is a simple mistake to make.

I hope this guide helps you! No all you need is a good phone holder

We recommend Vgate products as Bluetooth dongles

We recommend Car Scanner on Google play for an OBD diagnostics app
